Mara Balode, originally from Riga Latvia, is an autodidactic illustrator with an academic background in Art Jewellery. The visual worlds she is creating are based on her personal experiences navigating her life through urban environments and diverse social systems. Her own emotional world is a catalyst to transform psychological concepts, emotions and feelings in unique drawings, illustrations and frame by frame animations. Her work often takes shape as a visual diary. Juggling between digital and manual drawing, painting and printmaking she is bringing to life visually striking works with bold colours and compositions.
